Bagel Bake Fest 2008!
It is common knowledge in Peru that a pregnant woman cannot do any heavy lifting, sweeping, etc. (unless it is inside of your own home where no one can...or is willing to stop you!). So instead of putting up window frames today, I stayed home and had a fun time teaching some friends how to make bagels. Between the three of us we managed to cover the table with flour and come up with some new shapes and sizes for bagels (like the super-mini bagel bite that's the same size as a pinkie ring...for all those dieters out there!)
The mixer we got as a wedding gift came in handy as we whipped out three batches of bagel mix. The first ones were a little iffy in shape, but still edible. The last batch were dreams come true. We also managed to squeeze in a little time for homemade Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, chatting, sampling hand lotion, ordering Chinese food (and eating it), as well as a bagel tasting before calling it a day. I was glad to have enough energy for entertaining and welcomed the company after many Saturdays of lying on the couch too exhausted to do anything else!
